Special Education

Special Education provides individualized instruction and support for students with disabilities to help them access the general education curriculum and make meaningful progress in school. Services are guided by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), a federal law that ensures eligible students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

Students who qualify for Special Education receive an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP outlines the student’s learning goals, the services they will receive, and the accommodations or modifications needed for success.

Special Education is a collaborative process involving families, educators, specialists, and the student. Its purpose is to remove barriers to learning, build on student strengths, and support each learner in achieving their full potential.
